Christian testimonies
Richard
Richard was brought up in a Christian home and the Church. “I praise and thank the Lord for this great blessing,” he says, “and that, for as long as I can remember, I have been exposed to the Gospel that I now know to be the only truth. I know this, not because of what I have been taught … but because I have had a personal experience of God and it is through this, that by God’s grace, I have been wonderfully saved.”
Even though he had always believed what he heard about God and what was taught in the Bible, it was not until he was about ten that what he had heard really began to mean something to him and he became more aware of his sin. For a long time he sought God’s forgiveness but he thought that God would not hear his prayers.
God did hear his prayers but Richard cannot remember a single day on which he was saved but God gradually revealed himself to him and God eventually gave him the assurance that he was saved and now a Christian.
“The reality of knowing Jesus,” he asserts, “fills me with great joy, far greater than any passing pleasure that this world has to offer. All my non-Christian peers seem so desperate to find some form of happiness or fulfilment in life but they never achieve the satisfaction they are searching for. I have been given many good things in this life but none of these can compare to the joy of knowing Jesus Christ.”
